What exactly is a token?
One token equals one email successfully handed off to its recipient's mail server. Test sends count. QC runs are free. Bounces and skipped contacts (e.g. unsubscribed) don't consume tokens.
How is this different from Mailchimp or SendGrid?
Three differences: pricing is in Rands and based on actual sends rather than contact list size; POPIA compliance is the default rather than an add-on; deliverability QC is built into the platform so you find SPF/DKIM problems before your audience does.
Is my data hosted in South Africa?
Yes. Application servers and databases are hosted in South African data centres. POPIA-compliant by design, with consent records, opt-in audit trails, and unsubscribe handling built in.
Can I use my own SMTP server?
Yes — in fact, that's the recommended setup. Configure your existing SMTP (or a provider like Postmark, Amazon SES, etc.) and SkySignal handles the audience, scheduling, and tracking. We can also recommend SMTP options if you're starting from scratch.
What happens to my tokens if I cancel?
Top-up tokens never expire. Monthly plan tokens reset each billing period but unused top-ups carry forward indefinitely. No contracts, no cancellation fees.
Do you have an API?
Yes. The Pro plan includes API access for programmatic campaign creation, audience imports, and send queueing. Documentation arrives at docs.skysignal.co.za with the public launch.
Can I manage multiple brands or clients?
Yes — SkySignal is built around workspaces. Each workspace has its own branding, SMTP, audience, and team. Agencies typically run one workspace per client. Growth and Pro plans include multiple workspaces.
What's the catch?
No catch. We make money when you send email. If you send less, you pay less. If we lose your trust on deliverability, you leave and we lose. The incentives are aligned.
